 ENSENADA, Baja California, Mexico—After the first two dates of the 2024 SCORE World Desert Championship, there is a tie for the overall points lead between Thor Herbst, 21, Las Vegas, and Justin Davis, 31, Chino Hills, Calif., who also share first place in the Trophy Truck Spec class with 269 points.
     Thor Herbst, son of SCORE Trophy Truck legendary racer Tim Herbst, won the King Shocks 37th SCORE San Felipe 250 and then was second in the BFGoodrich Tires 56th SCORE Baja 500 aboard his No. 219 1 Nine Industries Ford Raptor.
     Davis, meanwhile, was second in his No. 285 Green Army Motorsports TSCO-Chevy truck in the SCORE San Felipe 250 and won the SCORE Baja 500 earlier this month, battling head-to-head with Terrible Herbst Motorsports for the annual title and checkered flag in the first half of the season.
     In third place in the overall SCORE top 25 is Michael Marsal, 36, Millbrook, N.Y., who is in search of his first podium finish this year with 247 points after finishing fifth in the SCORE San Felipe 250 and fourth in the SCORE Baja 400 in his No. 236 SPY Brenthel-Chevy Truck.
‘MINI MAC’ APPEARS IN TOP 4 OVERALL
     Fourth place overall points in SCORE is Cayden ‘Mini Mac’ MacCachren, 22, Las Vegas, who has a pair of Pro UTV Open class wins in the official Polaris factory team with a total of 246 points.
     ‘Mini Mac’, son of Rob ‘The G.O.A.T.’ MacCachren, won the SCORE San Felipe and the SCORE Baja 500 in his No. 1821 Polaris RZR Pro R UTV, in addition to winning the BFGoodrich Tires 56th SCORE Baja 1000, presented by 4 Wheel Parts, last November, a race that started in La Paz, Baja California Sur, and finished in Ensenada, Baja California.
     ‘Mini Mac’ is also the leader of the Pro UTV Open class and is two more dates away from winning the 2024 SCORE World Desert Championship to emulate his father, who is considered by many experts in the sport as the best driver in the history of off-road racing.
BLURTON'S INTACT PERFECTION IN BAJA
     Phil Blurton, 37, Auburn, Calif., leads the Pro UTV FI class with 246 points, tied for fourth overall in SCORE with Cayden MacCachren, on the strength of wins at the SCORE San Felipe 250 and SCORE Baja 500.
     Blurton has enjoyed excellent handling in his No. 2944 Can-Am Maverick R, which is in contention for the 2024 Rod Hall SCORE Milestone Awards, presented by Toyota Escondido, an award given to racers who complete all the required miles of the season.
‘TAVO’ LEADS THE MEXICAN FIELD
     Gustavo ‘Tavo’ Vildosola Jr, 42, Mexicali, Baja California, is not only the leader of the SCORE Trophy Truck with 239 points, he is also ranked seventh overall in SCORE.
     Vildosola Jr was third in the SCORE San Felipe 250 aboard his No. 21 Ford Raptor Vildosola Racing and finished second in the SCORE Baja 500 to enjoy a very complete first half of the championship.

Los dos pilotos estadounidenses son quienes suman más puntos en el Campeonato Mundial del Desierto 2024 de SCORE

 
ENSENADA, Baja California, México, tras las dos primeras fechas del Campeonato Mundial del Desierto 2024 de SCORE, hay un empate en el superliderato overall, entre Thor Herbst, de 21 años de edad y de Las Vegas, Nevada, y Justin Davis, de 31 años de edad y de Chino Hills, California, quienes también comparten el primer lugar en la clase Trophy Truck Spec con 269 puntos.
Thor Herbst, hijo de Tim Herbst, leyenda del Off-Road y uno de los corredores más ganadores en la historia de los SCORE Trophy Trucks, ganó la edición 37 de la King Shocks SCORE San Felipe 250 y luego fue segundo en la edición 56 de la BFGoodrich Tires SCORE Baja 500 a bordo de su Ford Raptor Raptor número 219 de la marca 1 Nine Industries y del equipo Terrible Herbst Motorsports.

El cuarto sitio en forma overall de SCORE en los carros es para Cayden “Mini Mac” MacCachren, de 22 años de edad y de Las Vegas, Nevada, quien lleva par de triunfos en la clase Pro UTV Open y portando los colores del equipo oficial Polaris, contando con un total de 246 puntos.
Cayden es hijo de Rob “La Cabra” MacCachren, quien ganó la SCORE San Felipe y la SCORE Baja 500 en su UTV Polaris RZR Pro R número 1821, sumado a ganar la edición 56 de la BFGoodrich Tires Baja 1000, presentada por 4 Wheel Parts en noviembre pasado, carrera que arrancó en La Paz, Baja California Sur, y finalizó en Ensenada, Baja California.
“Mini Mac” es también el líder de la clase Pro UTV Open y está a dos fechas más, de poder alzar el título anual de SCORE, para emular los pasos de su padre, quien es considerado por muchos expertos de este deporte como el mejor piloto de la historia del Off-Road.
 
PERFECCIÓN INTACTA DE BLURTON EN BAJA
Phil Blurton, de 37 años de edad y de Auburn, California, es el líder de la clase Pro UTV FI con 246 puntos, empatado en el cuarto sitio overall de SCORE con Cayden MacCachren, de la mano de sus triunfos en la SCORE San Felipe 250 y la SCORE Baja 500.
Blurton ha gozado de un manejo de excelencia en su Can-Am Maverick R número 2944, con lo que está peleando por el Premio SCORE Rod Hall 2024, presentado por Toyota de Escondido, que es un galardón que reciben los corredores que completan todas las millas de la temporada.
 
ENCABEZA “TAVO” A LOS MEXICANOS
Gustavo “Tavo” Vildósola Junior, de 42 años de edad y de Mexicali, Baja California, no solamente es el líder de los SCORE Trophy Trucks con 239 unidades, también está colocado como séptimo sitio en forma overall dentro de SCORE.
Vildósola Junior fue tercero en la SCORE San Felipe 250 a bordo de su Ford Raptor Vildósola Racing número 21, y cerró en segundo lugar en la SCORE Baja 500 para gozar de una primera mitad de campeonato muy completa.
