Oskar Slingerland - Baja Challenge

Oskar Slingerland

#BC6

Biography

From the glamorous principality of Monaco to the brutal deserts of Baja California, this international competitor brings a unique European perspective to SCORE desert racing. Based in Monte Carlo, Slingerland has carved out a distinctive niche in the challenging world of off-road competition, demonstrating that passion for desert racing transcends geographical boundaries.

His most notable SCORE achievement came in the grueling Baja 1000, where he piloted his BC6 Subaru-powered Baja Challenge machine to a fifth-place class finish after over 40 hours of punishing desert terrain. Running alongside an international crew including James Rossiter from Monaco, Mike Marshal from New York, Markus Palttala from Belgium, Will Turner from Massachusetts, and Jay Baier from New Hampshire, Slingerland showcased the global appeal of SCORE racing.

The Baja Challenge class, featuring spec Subaru-powered touring cars, demands exceptional endurance and consistency rather than raw horsepower. Slingerland's ability to maintain pace through the technical challenges of the Baja Peninsula while managing an international co-driver rotation speaks to his organizational skills and racing acumen. His Monaco base makes him one of the most geographically distant competitors regularly tackling SCORE's legendary events, representing the truly international nature of desert racing.
