Ken Leavitt - Class 3

Ken Leavitt

Jerome, ID - #349

Biography

Racing out of the rugged terrain of Idaho, this desert racing veteran brings decades of off-road experience to the SCORE International circuit. Competing primarily in Class 3 with his Ford Bronco, Ken Leavitt has established himself as a determined competitor in one of desert racing's most challenging categories.

The Jerome resident has tackled the legendary Baja 1000, showcasing the grit and determination that defines Class 3 racing. His #349 Ford Bronco represents the classic short-wheelbase 4x4 category, where reliability and navigation skills often matter as much as raw speed across Baja's unforgiving peninsula. Racing alongside co-drivers including Lara Wagstaf from Hailey, Idaho, and experienced hands like Tim Bradford and Bob Morton, Leavitt demonstrates the teamwork essential for success in ultra-distance desert racing.

Class 3 competition demands exceptional vehicle preparation and strategic racing, as these production-based 4x4 vehicles must endure everything from technical rock sections to high-speed desert washes. Leavitt's commitment to this demanding class reflects his passion for the pure essence of desert racing, where mechanical sympathy and crew coordination often determine finishing positions in races that can stretch well beyond 24 hours of continuous competition.
