Driving the No. 37L Mason Ford Raptor, Rolf Helland won his second class victory in a row this season. Co-driving with Rick D. Johnson, the two started first in class and maintained their position despite a challenging course. “ It was a tough race, and I was worn out after more than five hours on the truck, “ said Helland. "Our Mason SCORE Trophy Truck ran really well. Rick and the crew did a terrific job in preparing it, and it ran flawlessly all day long. We had a couple of close calls and missed a couple of turns, but overall we didn’t make any mistakes all day. Luckily, we had a good finish here and in the SCORE San Felipe 250. Rolf Helland in the #37L Mason truck made quick time of the San Felipe course to take the win within the SCORE TT Legend class. Helland with co-driver Rick D. Johnson finished in a time of 5:28:16 ahead of Nick Vanderway in the #5L RPM Off-Road truck for driver of record Clyde Stacy. Vanderway drove solo and finished with a time of 6:25:42. “We had a little problem with the front end but got it fixed and kept going,†said Vanderway. “We hit a rock and got a flat which put us a little off the pace.†Finishing third in class was Russel Buehler in the #79L truck with Neil Buehler as co-driver. Rolf Helland and Clyde Stacey have been battling within the SCORE Trophy
Truck Legends division all season. In the first three races, Helland in the
number 37L truck has finished second and third without a first-place win.
Stacey in the 5L truck, finished fifth in San Felipe, first at the SCORE Baja 500
and first in class at the Lucerna SCORE Baja 400. It would be up to the final race of
the season that would determine who would be the final victor in the class and be in
