Among the five teams that entered the King Shocks 35th SCORE San Felipe 250, only two in class 5-1600 finished. While the Baja Challenge teams are typically made up of racers who want to experience a SCORE race, the team that puts it all together is some of the most logistical and knowledgeable in all of SCORE racing. Most of the time, the BC cars have the highest finishing rate of any class and at this race, they lived up to that challenge. All three cars finished the SCORE Baja 500 with the BC1 car of Jay Jakupca and James DeGaine finishing first. The BC13 car of Axi Sandoval, Enrique, Rodriguez, Esteban Rodiguez, and Geraldo Solorio finished second. First-time winner for the Baja Challenge Class was Tim Spurgeon in the BC2 car, with Barry Thompson co-driving. “This is our first time winning, but our fourth time running here,†said Spurgeon. “We had some problems early–cooling issues, but we just kept digging. We took the lead about halfway through and just took care of the car the rest of the way home. It was a lot of fun.†Read More
