On the early morning start of the 3rd SCORE Baja 400 Presented by VP Racing Fuels, a line nearly 1/8-mile-long of moto and quad racers prepare themselves for the long 393.8-mile journey ahead of them. The dark is only illuminated by the large SCORE LED board that counts down the seconds for racers to begin the race off the Boulevard Costero, in front of the Riveria Pacifico Cultural Center in Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico. Their minds are all focused on getting to their next stop along the course in good time, avoiding the rocks, deep silt, ruts, and other competitors that may prevent them from getting there in the fastest time possible. The Pro Moto 50 class brought back two of the toughest competitors in the class. 2020 Class Champion Vance Kennedy and 2021 Class Champion Giovanni Spinali once again battled it out in the Baja desert. Each had a team of great riders with Dennis Belingheri and Dave Mayer riding Kennedy's 522x Husqvarna FX450, and John Griffin, Troy Pierce, Earl Roberts, and Champion Jim O'Neal riding Spinali's 500x Yamaha YZ450X. Many of the Pro Moto 30 racers were also competing in Pro Moto 40 and other classes. As a result, some of the teams had well-experienced riders assisting to maximize their efforts to get on the podium. Among the Pro Moto 40 racers, the 408x team of Ryan Liebelt got to the finish first with the help of co-riders Jason Trubey and Brandon Wright. Read More
The 308x team of Greg Bardonexx, James Justin Shultz, Ryan Liebelt, and Shane Esposito have been on winning teams and showed their riding talents in Pro Moto 30. They rode their Yamaha WR450F to their second victory this season, but the 325x team of Jano Montoya has not made it easy. Read More
Ryan Liebelt, who was on the 308x team also had his own Pro Moto 40 team on the 408x Yamaha WR450F. Liebelt pulled double duty and managed to win the class with co-riders Steve Tichner, and Brenden Wright. The team had a commanding lead, almost two hours ahead of second-place finisher William St. Laurent on the 424x bike. St. Laurent had co-riders Shelby Dunson and Kirk Russell. Finishing third in class was the 441x team of Alirio Amado from Woodlands, Texas, who rode the course solo. Read More
